Personal protective equipment helps protect medical and essential personnel from exposure to contagions. PPE includes surgical/medical face masks and respirators which protect the face from airborne particles and liquid.

Face Masks

A face mask is a loose-fitting, disposable device that creates a physical barrier between the nose and mouth of the wearer and potential contaminants in the immediate environment. Face masks may be labeled as medical, surgical, isolation, dental, or procedure masks. The masks are made in different thicknesses which provide different levels of protection.

Procedure masks are designed to be effective in blocking splashes, spray, splatter, and large particle droplets. Medical masks also reduce exposure of the wearer’s saliva and respiratory secretions to others. They do not provide complete protection from other germs and contaminants because of their loose fit. Face masks are single use and should be discarded safely if they become damaged, soiled, or if breathing through the mask becomes difficult.

Not all face masks are regulated for surgical or procedural use despite the phrase “surgical” or “procedure mask”. Surgical masks are regulated under the FDA (21 CFR 878.4040).

PGT sells non-surgical face masks to hospitals and medical research and/or care facilities, governments, and essential businesses. PGT does not sell to private brokers or individuals not representing an applicable organization.

Respirators

A respirator is a mask worn over the mouth and nose to prevent the inhalation of contaminants or noxious substances. Respirators, unlike face masks, provide a tight seal against the skin and filter out certain airborne particles. Respirators, including those intended for use in healthcare settings, are certified by the CDC/NIOSH and are rated according to the level at which they filter particles, including bacteria and viruses. N95 respirators, for example, are capable of filtering out at least 95% of very small (0.3 microns) particles.

N95 respirators are resistant to high-velocity streams of body fluids, which makes it more difficult to breathe. Surgical N95 respirators are designed without exhalation valves, which can make the inside of the mask feel warmer. N95 respirators provide the same level of protection with or without the exhalation valve. The value reduces exhalation resistance to make it easier to breathe. N95 respirators with exhalation valves should not be used where a sterile field must be maintained because the exhalation valve allows unfiltered exhaled air to escape.

N95 respirator masks will have a NIOSH approval number and approval label.

PGT sells N95 respirators to hospitals and medical research and/or care facilities, governments, and essential businesses. PGT does not sell to private brokers or individuals not representing an applicable organization.

Investing in new equipment can be a daunting task for any restaurant operator. Weighing all the factors — such as price, quality, and overall value — can be tricky. And not only that but deciding where to purchase equipment brings a new set of considerations, such as delivery, installation/start-up, training support, and ongoing service. The impact a distributor can have on the overall purchasing process makes picking the right one equally as important as selecting the right equipment.

But how do you know you’re partnering with the right distributor to help you and your business? There are several signs that your equipment provider is a good one — here are five traits we see with successful distributors in our network.

Has an excellent reputation and is often recommended

The best and perhaps the easiest way to find a top-notch distributor is by following the advice of your peers. A distributor that receives consistent praise from buyers has earned its excellent reputation. Assessing the distributor’s partnerships may tell you a little about them and how they manage their business. Longstanding partnerships with manufacturers are a sign of a business that places a high priority on professionalism, dependability, and performance.

Consistently exceeds your expectations

No business has time to wait around for under-performing partners. They can slow your operations down and interfere with your business’s growth. A worthy distributor should follow through on their commitments and act as a member of your team. They should be more than a Do they check-in to ensure your satisfaction? Do they communicate information you might find interesting? Do they alert you to new opportunities with products or supplies? A distributor that views themselves as a partner will.

Is an industry expert and ongoing resource

It’s worth a buyer’s time to research whether their distributor is the real deal. Partnering with a true industry expert means that you’ll receive guidance and relevant insights from a knowledgeable source. A good distributor can act as a back-of-house consultant. They have seen it all and know what will help you achieve your goals and identify potential challenges. In addition to hands-on experience, a great distributor will participate in dealer shows and industry-related events expanding their knowledge for your benefit.

Has the equipment and service level you need

A truly dedicated distributor will have the desire and the resources to address any customer service issues. Operators should be cautious of resellers whose commitment to their customers ends following the sale. Do they invest in training their service team? Do they carry parts? How do they respond to crises? The value of a distributor is their commitment to their clients months and years after the purchase of your equipment.

Puts the needs and wants of the customer first

Find a distributor that makes the purchasing experience custom to you. No sale should have a one-size-fits-all A distributor with good communication skills and fair practices will be able to adapt to your needs and provide you with solutions that help drive your business.

Disposable nitrile gloves offer superior performance in a variety of work applications and across a broad range of industries. Nitrile disposable gloves are a popular alternative to latex gloves in many professions. There are lots of reasons why disposable nitrile gloves are the best choice for tough jobs.  What are the benefits of disposable nitrile gloves?

1) Nitrile gloves are highly punctured resistant – three to five times more so than latex.

Many professions rely on the durability of Nitrile gloves, especially when exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other environmental contaminants are of concern. Nitrile gloves, such as Nitrile Exam, are FDA approved for medical use and are highly puncture resistant providing excellent durability, and barrier protection. These gloves are powder-free, so you don’t have to worry about messy powder when working with fresh adhesives or ink. Powder Free Indigo Nitrile gloves are commonly used by medical and dental professionals, tattoo artists, spas and salons, and in laboratory settings. These gloves are also FDA-approved for food service. Medical Supplies Co’s nitrile exam gloves are perfect for doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, tattoo artists, dentists, veterinary, and laboratory workers.

2) They provide a stronger barrier of protection and offer greater chemical resistance.

Nitrile rubber is more resistant than natural rubber to chemicals, oils, and acids, and has superior strength. Nitrile disposable gloves such as Heavy Duty Orange Nitrile gloves, are three times more puncture-resistant than latex and are more chemical resistant than latex or vinyl. In fact, nitrile is recommended for employees working with 67 percent of chemicals, 28 percent more than latex or vinyl.  Heavy Duty Orange Nitrile gloves are one of Medical Supplies Co’s premium glove products – ideal for many industries and situations, such as automotive, manufacturing, janitorial, plumbing, paint shops, heavy-duty and industrial applications. When it comes to versatility, it is hard to beat Medical Supplies Co’s Heavy Duty Nitrile Gloves!

3) Nitrile Gloves are latex-free, so anyone with a latex allergy can work safely and comfortably.

Nitrile gloves have become the preferred synthetic alternative to natural rubber and are ideal when latex allergies are of concern. More medical professionals rely on the latex-free dependability of Nitrile gloves. Exam grade disposable gloves, such as powder-free nitrile gloves, are FDA approved for medical use and provides excellent strength, durability, and barrier protection against bloodborne pathogens and other environmental contaminants. The micro-roughened finish on the surface of the glove gives you a non-slip grip when gloves are either wet or dry.  These nitrile gloves are perfect for medical and dental professionals, child care, and senior care.

4) Nitrile conforms to the shape of your hand, providing a snug and comfortable fit.

As body heat warms nitrile gloves, they conform closely to the hand for a better, comfortable fit.  Nitrile gloves such as Black Nitrile, a premium industrial grade standard nitrile glove, are 50% thicker than standard nitrile gloves for added durability so that each pair of gloves lasts longer while you’re working.  They are more elastic than vinyl and can be used in a variety of applications, including automotive, manufacturing, janitorial and sanitation services, the industrial, safety, and chemical industries, and are FDA approved for food service.

5) A lower resistance to friction makes nitrile gloves, easier to don and doff.

Nitrile rubber gloves alone have a lower coefficient of friction, making them easier to don and doff.  However, during the disposable glove manufacturing process, finishes are applied, allowing glove users to don and doff with ease, creating a seamless experience as they change gloves.

When the finish is applied to nitrile gloves it provides the following features and benefits:

  • The powder makes the gloves easier to don by absorbing excess moisture on the hands.
  • Polymer coating makes the gloves easier to slip onto the hands with a slicker finish.
  • Chlorination reduces the tackiness of the material and makes it softer.

Industries such as food processing and foodservice, frequently change gloves. General-purpose gloves such as, Blue Nitrile gloves, offer seamless glove changes, which is perfect for short-duration applications where frequent glove changes are required.  This nitrile glove is an industrial grade, blue, disposable glove commonly used in industries where dexterity is needed, such as, for food processing, janitorial, manufacturing, automotive, and industrial applications. X3 gloves are also FDA-approved for food service. Talk to a glove expert to find the best nitrile gloves for your industry or application.

Nitrile gloves are versatile and their benefits are used across a large spectrum of industries. For countless industries, nitrile gloves are an ideal choice because they can offer numerous more benefits than either latex or vinyl for many applications.
